Mr Tony Lewis 558

It is with heavy heart that we bring you the sad news that long-serving top tenor Tony Lewis chorister 558 died on Saturday night following a long and brave battle with cancer.

Tony joined the Choir in 2003 and added a lovely tenor voice to the Top Tenor section.

He was a true Welsh speaking Welshman, born and brought up in Carmarthen (Tony would have been 82 next Saturday)

Before retirement, Tony was a popular and well respected Deputy Head Teacher at Mountain Ash Comprehensive School. Into retirement, Tony and wife Julia bought a caravan in West Wales, which Tony loved. They also enjoyed choir tours together, and of course, visiting their daughter in Australia. With his partner in crime Roy Edmunds, Tony immersed himself in the choir and enjoyed every tour and event to the fullest. When the choir modelled Gucci for Vogue magazine in 2019 he was a willing volunteer and took centre stage as you can see in the photo below.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Julia and their family. Tony will be greatly missed, and fondly remembered, by all at Cwmbach Male Choir.

Mr David "Dai Nick" Williams

We are very sad to report the passing of Life Member Dai "Nick" Williams, a stalwart of the top tenor section.

Dai Nick had a lovely voice and was a choir member for 64 years.

He was the nicest, kindest person and a real friend to us all.

Our thoughts and condolences go to Connie, the family and friends

Hon. President Mr. Brian Williams

We are delighted to announce that after many years distinguished service to the choir, both as a chorister and enigmatic Chairman, Mr. Brian Williams has accepted the unanimous nomination of the choir as Hon. President.

Brian has expressed his keen desire to continue singing and his invaluable contribution to the Bass section and the choir as a whole has been sorely missed recently. Brian is held in huge esteem and respect by members and friends of the choir alike, and we are certain that in the role of Hon. President he will continue to support the choir with the enthusiasm and humour he is known for.
